CENSUSES
The data on population and households have been
collected by Census every ten years and by unified methodology on all areas of
B&H.
The data of
the population census related to the resident population in B&H territories. It means
that every inhabitant had to be enumerated in the place of residence, and also
in the case when at the Census date he/she was absent from that place due to
any reason: travel, education or field work, temporary work abroad, medical
treatment etc. Data on these persons were furnished their households.
As
a household is considered every family or
other community of persons, whose members live together and pool their
resources and share their expenses.
Also every person living singly
(regardless of whether he/she lives with another single person or with members
of other family household, but with whom he/she does not share own income) is
considered as a separate household.
The data on nationality
are the result of freely expressed nationality of population over 10 or over 15
years of age, respectively parents (guardians) in the case of children under 10
or under 15 years of age in the 1971, 1981, 1991 census.
Age In census and in demographic statistics the population is grouped
by age according to the age on last birthday.
Literacy Data on literacy of population relate to population aged 10 year
and over. Under literate population was covered every person who could read and
write a text dealing with everyday life regardless of the language. All other
persons including also those who only could read, were considered as
illiterate.
Educational
background is
the highest level of education which a persons got when they completed regular
school or the school which substitute a regular school, or some courses which
giving a rank of certain school.
